  • Consultation on the Draft Tunstead Neighbourhood Plan (Submission Version)

Tunstead & Sco Ruston Parish Council submitted its draft Neighbourhood Plan to North Norfolk District Council on 4 June 2026. Under Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning Regulations 2012, the District Council is now inviting comments on the draft Plan between Monday 7 September and Monday 19 October 2026.

To view the Plan, supporting information, and to make comments, please visit www.north-norfolk.gov.uk/tunsteadnp

    What happens next?

Following the consultation, the District Council will appoint an examiner to independently assess whether the proposed neighbourhood plan meets the legal requirements and the “basic conditions” set out in planning legislation before it can proceed to a local referendum. Any comments received during the consultation period will be provided to the examiner for their consideration. An examination report will then be prepared, providing a recommendation that the plan should either 1) proceed to a referendum unchanged, 2) proceed to referendum subject to modifications being made, or 3) the plan should not proceed to referendum.

The District Council will consider the examination report and decide If the draft Plan is suitable to proceed to referendum. If approved, a local referendum will be organised by the District Council. If accepted via a simple majority vote, the draft neighbourhood Plan must be adopted for use by NNDC within an 8-week period following the referendum. Once adopted, the Neighbourhood Plan will form part of the district-wide planning framework and become a material consideration (must be taken into account) in the consideration of future planning applications in the Tunstead Neighbourhood Area.
