One of the big issues in Tunstead is flooding
During recent years, Tunstead Parish Council has asked parishioners and landowners to clear out water courses (ditches, pipes, gullies, culverts, etc) in order to improve drainage and help avoid flooding. Thank you to all parishioners and landowners who responded so readily when asked to do so.
Clearing out water courses has so far helped to avoid any internal flooding in Tunstead, but more can be done to avoid flooding.
Since uncleared ditches and drainage pipes can help cause flooding, owners, by keeping ditches and drainage pipes clear, are also helping to protect themselves from potential legal action. Should flooding occur, which a blocked water course may have contributed towards, then the person or organisation responsible for the water course could be considered partially or wholly responsible for the flooding. This could result in legal action being taken against a person or organisation which has failed to keep their water course clear. Keeping water courses clear helps protect those with responsibilities for water courses from potential legal action.
If you are responsible for any water courses, please clear them before the next heavy rainfall.
Once again, thank you to everyone who keeps their water courses clear and helps keep Tunstead safe from flooding.
